Belle Valley takes a stand against bullying!

On November 13, Belle Valley had a very special visit from Kirk Smalley of Stand for the Silent.
Kirk travels around the country speaking to students about the harmful and sometimes permanent consequences of bullying. Kirk lost his son, Ty, in 2009 when Ty finally succumbed to the sadness and anxiety he suffered at the hands of a bully at his school. His presentation had a profound effect on our students. Many of them were moved to tears hearing about the tragedy that struck Kirk's family and other stories like his. Our students were inspired to start a Stand for the Silent chapter here at Belle Valley to help students struggling with bully-related issues. |
